Monster Island, the Asylum’s 2019 mockbuster, came out around the same date as Godzilla King of the Monsters. The film centers on an island with the same title as the island itself where a monstrous lives.


Because of its low budget (about equivalent to a large children's meal), the filmmakers of this asylum film wisely choose to concentrate Monster Island by Decker Shado on only a handful of people, and to shoot all of the major moments involving the cast's A-listers during their lunch break. Remember, however, that this is a kaiju film, and that's basically of how things go, so maybe The Asylum won't do too badly with it.
